New Jersey golf club membership costs are rarely published for private clubs, so the verified prices here are for public and county courses: about $43 to $87 for 18 holes at Hominy Hill in Monmouth County. For private clubs the figures that exist are press reports, some old. The table covers every New Jersey club on our price list, and clubs without their own page follow. For the national picture, see golf club membership costs.

Location for Plainfield and Baltusrol is confirmed on each club's own site, and Somerset Hills and Pine Valley on Golf.com's course pages. Historical note: NJ Monthly reported in 2009 about $90,000 initiation and about $9,000 dues at Baltusrol, and $45,000 initiation plus a $15,000 refundable bond and about $11,000 a year at Plainfield. Those are 2008-era figures, shown only so you can see how old the public record is. Do not use them as current prices.

Other New Jersey clubs with a reported fee

Not every club has its own page here. Links Magazine (undated list) reports initiation fees of $500,000 at Liberty National in Jersey City, $300,000 at Hamilton Farm and $150,000 at Bayonne Golf Club. NJ Monthly gave the same $500,000 for Liberty National in 2009, payable over five years. Clubs do not confirm these.

Monmouth County public courses

Monmouth County's February 2026 fee schedule lists more courses beyond Hominy Hill, all for 18 holes, walking:

  • Charleston Springs: $42 Mon to Thu and $57 Fri to Sun for passholders, and $51 and $83 for non-passholders.
  • Shark River: $42 and $56 for passholders, $51 and $77 for non-passholders.
  • Howell Park: $42 and $56 for passholders, $51 and $75 for non-passholders.

A resident Golf Pass is $52 for one year, according to the same schedule, and a non-resident Player Pass is $270.

How New Jersey compares

Golf.com, citing Supreme Golf tee-time data, put New Jersey's average booked round at $62 in 2023, against $70 in California and $47 in New York. That is an average of what people paid on a tee-time site, not a fee list. Public county and university courses sit well below the reported initiation fees at private clubs, which run from tens of thousands to $500,000.
