The PING G400 irons have the same standard lofts as the G410: 20.5 degrees in the 4-iron, 30 in the 7-iron and 44.5 in the pitching wedge. National Club Golfer reviewed them in July 2017 as a game-improvement iron with wide appeal. See the iron specs and lofts hub to compare them with other models.
Loft by club
| Club | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | PW |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Loft | 20.5° | 23.5° | 26.5° | 30° | 34.5° | 39.5° | 44.5° |
Where this comes from: these lofts are inferred from the G410 table, which is from a retailer listing. Golfalot says the G410's standard lofts match the G400's, and the G410's lofts are in our G410 page. We could not verify lie, length, offset or bounce for the G400 from a source we trust, so we do not list them. Open PING's spec sheet or ask a fitter for those.
Design and technology
National Club Golfer dated its review 10 July 2017. It describes a Hydropearl finish and a multi-material cavity insert with an elastomer, and calls the iron game-improvement with wider appeal than the G-Max. Plugged In Golf notes a Power Spec loft option. A retailer's copy describes Hyper 17-4 stainless steel, a COR-Eye face, a top-rail undercut and a three-piece cavity badge, which we have not confirmed on a PING page.
Shafts, grips and price
Plugged In Golf lists a stock steel AWT 2.0 shaft and a stock Alta CB graphite shaft. National Club Golfer lists other shafts at no upcharge, including Dynamic Gold, Nippon Pro Modus Tour 3 105, Project X, XP 95 and KBS Tour, and a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip. National Club Golfer gave a UK price of £110 per iron in steel and £120 in graphite at launch. We have no sourced US launch price.
